Prescriptions

Both Seascale and Bootle Health Centres are able to dispense medications to patients. For Seascale the dispensary service is for patients who live more than one mile from the chemist.

At Seascale we require 24 hours’ notice for repeat prescriptions to be prepared for you. Bootle require 48 hours notice.

You can request these prescriptions in person at the dispensary, by leaving the request in the prescription box in the Seascale entrance or Bootle reception, by telephoning or by using the form on this website.

Please note: if you order via e-mail over the weekend your prescription will not be available for collection until Tuesday.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
