The turnaround time for collection of repeat prescriptions will be 48 hours at both Seascale and Bootle
Seascale patients have been privileged to have had their repeat prescription requests turned around within 24 hours for a number of years. Along with a general increase in demand in general practice, we have an increased number of patients who are now on many more drugs and this has prompted us to review how we process our prescriptions. Currently at Seascale, we turnaround approx 1000 prescriptions each week and dispense almost 1500 items.
After a recent review of our system in June we have decided to move from a 24 hour to a 48 hour turnaround at Seascale, to bring this in line for both branch and main site. This decision is based on a number of factors including delivery from wholesalers and also considering all of the necessary checks to ensure safety and quality. We consulted patients via a patient survey during Jul-Sept 2013 and discussed this with our Patient group in Sept. The responses from the patient’s survey were positive to the change along with a few suggestions to improve the service further. We will continue to treat ‘acute’ requests as before but we will also produce an information leaflet to guide patients on how to reorder, along with the preferred timescales so that you do not run out of medication. You can continue to use our practice website www.seascalehc.co.uk to order as this is the easiest way for us to action your repeat prescription requests. Thank you for your understanding.
You can request these prescriptions in person at the dispensary, by leaving the request in the prescription box in the Seascale entrance or Bootle reception, by telephoning or by using the form on this website.
Cheryl McCracken is our dispensing and medicines manager and will also act as a dispenser. Please contact her on 019467 28101
Please note we are unable to provide a delivery service at the present time.
