Seascale and Bootle surgeries are able to dispense medication to any of their patients who live more than one mile from a community pharmacy. Patients who live within one mile must use a community pharmacy of their choice.
The turnaround time for collection of repeat prescriptions will be 48 hours at both Seascale and Bootle.
You can request these prescriptions in person at the dispensary, by leaving the request in the prescription box at Seascale or Bootle, by calling the prescription line (Seascale 019467 27451/Bootle 01229 718711) or by using one of the online services.
Please note we are unable to provide a delivery service at the present time.
Introduction of EPS (Electronic Prescription Service) 26th November 2019.
Charges and Exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
From 1st April 2020, the charges are:
- Prescription (per item): £9.15
- 3-month Pre Payment Certificate (PPC): £29.65
- 12-month Pre Payment Certificate (PPC): £105.90
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 12 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
